Privacy Policy

LinkedShot is a Chrome extension that lets you capture LinkedIn post screenshots with beautiful backgrounds. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, what we don't, and how the extension works.

The short version

We collect nothing. LinkedShot processes everything locally in your browser. No data is sent to our servers, no analytics are collected, no personal information is stored.

What LinkedShot does

When you click the Screenshot button on a LinkedIn post, LinkedShot:

• Takes a screenshot of the visible area of your browser tab (using Chrome's built-in captureVisibleTab API)
• Crops that screenshot to the specific LinkedIn post you selected
• Applies your chosen background, adjustments, and effects entirely within your browser
• Lets you download the result as a PNG

All of this happens locally, inside your browser. The image never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.

What data we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information
• We do not collect, store, or transmit your screenshots
• We do not read the content of LinkedIn posts or your LinkedIn data
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry of any kind
• We do not use cookies
• We do not connect to any third-party servers

Permissions explained

LinkedShot requests the following Chrome permissions, and here is exactly why:

• activeTab — Required to take a screenshot of the currently active tab when you click the camera button. We only access the tab at the moment you click, nothing more.
• tabs — Required by Chrome's screenshot API to identify the current window for capture.
• storage — Used only to remember your background preferences locally on your device. Nothing is synced externally.

LinkedShot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn Corporation or Microsoft. We simply inject a button into LinkedIn pages in your browser to enable the screenshot functionality. We do not interact with the LinkedIn API or access your LinkedIn account data.

Local storage

LinkedShot uses Chrome's storage.sync API to save your background preference so it persists between sessions. This data stays on your device (or is synced through Chrome's own sync if you have that enabled). We have no access to this data.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children's privacy

LinkedShot does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The extension is intended for professional use on LinkedIn, a platform that itself requires users to be at least 16 years old.

Changes to this policy

If we ever make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since we collect no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
